Asian American Coalition of Ohio is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to informing, engaging and empowering all Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in the United States. Our mission is to unite all AAPI communities in Ohio to promote their active and impactful participation and representation in American society.
The Asian American Coalition of Ohio (AACO) was founded in 2016 during a pivotal moment when Asian Americans were becoming increasingly aware of the importance of civil rights protection and civic engagement. Since then, AACO has actively hosted community events, candidate forums, and educational seminars and webinars to inform, engage, and empower community members. AACO also launched an annual Public Service Internship Program in 2017 to identify and train high school and college students who aspire to become future leaders in civic and public affairs.
Over the past decade, we have witnessed a rise in civil rights violations against Asian Americans, including high-profile cases such as Ms. Sherry Chen and Dr. Xiaoxing Xi. In response, AACO is calling for greater civic and political participation from AAPI communities.
AACO is committed to leading AAPI communities in amplifying their voices, raising awareness of critical issues, and advancing equity and justice across all aspects of American society.
