Our History

Asian American Coalition of Ohio is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to informing, engaging and empowering all Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in the United States. Our mission is to unite all AAPI communities in Ohio to promote their active and impactful participation and representation in American society.

Founded in 2016 in a rally to support former NYPD officer Peter Liang, AACO has frequently held informational forums, invited prominent guest speakers, and hosted community events and activities. In the past few years we have witnessed a growing number of incidents involving civil rights violations against Asian Americans, including that of Ms. Sherry (Xiafen) Chen and Dr. Xiaoxing Xi. AACO is calling for more active participation of AAPI communities in civil and political matters.

AACO hopes to lead AAPI communities in amplifying their voices, raising awareness for pertinent issues, and achieving equality in all aspects of American society.
