Dr. Qiu is devoted to the local community and passionate about community service. She is known for her volunteering work in the local Chinese schools as a board member and school administration team member over the years, and for her involvement in many community events. As a true believer that the future belongs to the next generation, Dr. Qiu is dedicated to developing our youth into great leaders. She is founding chair for AACO's Youth Program, and has been instrumental in establishing the AACO public service internship program, which has selected and placed hundreds of interns in state and local government offices since 2018, where youg AAPI leaders contribute their talent to public service and gain first-hand knowledge on how government works. Hong is also involved in the local public school district and helped organize school activities and events to enrich student experience build community bond. She was on the Central Ohio Red Cross International Blood Center Leadership Training Advisory Council helping train several international groups of red cross staff. Dr. Qiu has served in multiple leadership roles in various organizations, incuding the chair of the employee resource group for a global financial service company, founding board member of Ohio Chinese American Association, national board member of United Chinese Americans (UCA), board member of Ohio Wuhan University Alumni Association, past president of Ohio Peking University Alumni Association, and past Chair of a company-wide Chinese Staff Association.
